Meet Amelia, our International Sales Manager, she speaks fluent English, Polish and French and has been working at Ponte Tresa for 15 years.
How was Amelia growing up?
I was born in Poland, at a very early age I came to Ecuador. I have a younger sister and a brother. I am very close to my family in Poland and I try to visit them frequently. Nowadays I am happily married and the mother of two beautiful twins.
How did you get started in the flower industry?
I went to College here in Ecuador, my major was Foreign Trade, after graduating my first job was at Royal Cargo. I started to develop a good relationship with clients from the Flower Industry. Later on, through my client’s recommendations I applied to a job at Ponte Tresa and been working here ever since.
My favorite part about being in Ponte Tresa is the relationship I have with all my clients; I love that I am able to communicate with them in different languages and I always try to learn about their culture and get to know them as much as I can. I consider them to be my friends.
What advice would you give someone wanting to pursue a career similar to yours?
It’s a very interesting industry, my advice would be to be transparent and loyal to your clients, do all that’s in your hands to fulfill their orders but know when to say no. This is how you will gain their trust and under no circumstance lie to them or offer them something you can’t deliver.
